Ifyou would like to donate goods to Second Chance Furniture, then in the first instance contact us at the above telephone number or e-mail address, as our need for various different items can change on a daily basis, and we are restricted by the amount of showroom space we have available.
All items should be in good, clean, sound condition. Electrical items must be in full working order as we are not able to repair such items.
All soft furnishings must comply with the 1988 fire regulations (there is a label attached to mattresses,
sofas, armchairs, or the cushions thereof to indicate this).
Second Chance Furniture has decided to follow most charities and claim Gift Aid on donated items where possible. To be able to claim Gift Aid on donated items the donor must be a UK taxpayer and must pay UK income or capital gains tax at least equal to the amount that we will reclaim from the Inland Revenue. The donor must also agree that the donated items can be included in the Gift Aid scheme ( A tick in the box of a Gift of Goods form). The value of the donation and the amount of Gift Aid that will be claimed will only be established when the donated item has been allocated to a new home. At this stage the rules of the Gift Aid Scheme require us to advise the donor of the amount realised and seek final confirmation that the donor is prepared to donate this sum to us. Technically the donor can claim the this sum, if the agreement to Gift Aid is rescinded and the value reclaimed we will withhold a small percentage to cover administration costs. We hope this will not happen as it totally defeats the objective of Gift Aid which is to increase the value of the donation to the charity at no cost to the donor. This added value will enable us to continue to supply our clients with reasonable furniture at minimal cost.
